Here comes the fun and exciting part, it’s time to officially click the submit button on your computer screen to book the vacation that you’ll have a countdown for months in advance. Just don’t make the same mistakes I’ve made and you’ll be set! Here are some guidelines to keep in mind.. Decide where you want to go. There are plenty of college students who are all in the same boat as you on deciding where to go, whether it’s in the country or out of the country talk with each other. The more people you’re around and with the better the trip will be and lets be real, who doesn’t love meeting new people? Do plenty of research on the spot you choose because there are certain places that are safer than others so that’s something to keep in mind. Ok so you have your vacation spot picked, now you have to decide how long you plan on staying. Most school’s give a week for their spring break, but think of how expensive an entire week may cost. Also after a few days you may be too burnt out and want to go home but you already paid for an entire week so you’re now in a sucky situation. Yes you might think “Nah, I’m a party animal I’ll totally be able to last a full week” but I can guarantee you that’s not the case so consider cutting back and booking the trip for 4-5 days. Your next step is to book everything!!! If you’re flying, book your flight early because these flights will fill up very quickly. Not only do you have to worry about booking your flight, but also you can’t forget about your hotel room either. These hotels will fill up very quickly because it’s spring break and of course everyone wants to go. Book it early this way you are guaranteed a spot and don’t forget to look for the deals because who doesn’t love saving money? If you've done everything I said, you're in good shape! The hard stuff is out of the way and now you get to sit back and get excited for the best vacation you'll ever experience. When the time comes, don't forget to pack but pack light. You're going away for a week, maybe even less..don't pack like you're moving there for good. Get excited and don't forget to have fun!! You didn't do all this planning and spending money for nothing, make it worth it!
Spring break is the one time where you get to be carefree for a week, so make it last!

There are multiple types of people who are always down and ready to go for Spring Break, but you have to make sure you put yourself with the right group. From what I’ve experienced, there’s the “Let’s have the best Spring Break of our lives and forget about everything for a week!” “I’m totally down to go on Spring Break..” until you are just about to book everything and they decide to back out last minute. “Spring break is about to be great, as long as we keep it cheap” So it’s all about and picking the right group to go with, trust me. “Let’s have the best Spring Break of our lives and forget about everything for a week!” Yes, this is the group of people whom you know you are going to have a great time with. But you have to ask yourself, can I keep up with their lifestyle? I’m all about being adventurous and wanting to try new things, but with this comes a cost. If you want to go on Spring Break with a group who plans on doing things such as parasailing, water skiing, “booze cruise” and hitting the clubs every night, you better make sure you’re prepared to pay for all of this as well as transportation, hotels, airfare, etc. I’m not advising you to stay away from the rowdy group because let’s be real we know you’re going to have a good time with them, but just remember when those bills come in towards the end of the trip it’s going to be a tough one to handle. “I’m totally down to go on Spring Break” Yes! You’ve found friends to go away with. After spending weeks looking for the perfect spring break spot you’ve finally found it. All of the pricing has been divided up per person and it’s in your budget range. Just as you are getting ready to book the trip, there’s always that one person that backs out last minute. At first you might think no biggie, it’s only one person that shouldn’t increase the price too much. But for some reason, once one person backs out then a chain reaction occurs and more and more people begin to slowly back out. Before you know it half of the group backed out and now you’re about to pay double then you expected. Yikes. You definitely don't want this happening, so when looking for a group to go away with look for the people you know won't back out last minute and end up screwing the rest of the group over. "Spring break is about to be great, as long as we keep it cheap" Ding Ding Ding we have a winner!! These are the kind of people you want to spend your spring break with. They are all about having fun, but know how to do it in an inexpensive way. Yes these people are still down to be fun and adventurous so don't think they aren't. There is so much you can do on spring break that doesn't require spending money, so why not take advantage of these things. Find a group of friends who you don't have to be constantly doing activities with. These kind of people are down to sit on a beach with a cocktail in their hand for the whole day, I mean what could be better than that? Spring Break is the one week you have to relax with not a worry in the world, so you want to make sure you do it with the right group of people. So what are you waiting for? Go find that group and get planning!
3/20/2017 1 Comment the first steps of planning![]() SPRING BREAK The two words every college student loves to hear; yet their bank account on the other hand tends to disagree. We all want to enjoy the week we have off from papers and exams, but besides being able to sit on a beach and relax with a drink in your hand don’t you want to not worry about being broke when you return from vacation? Before even booking your spring break trip, here are a few suggestions on what not to do. ![]() 1).DON’T WAIT UNTIL LAST MINUTE. Just like how you tend to procrastinate your assignments and wait until the very last possible minute to do and submit them, waiting until the last minute to book your trip is only adding onto the total price. If you plan on going away for Spring Break, my advice is to book it the summer before about 8-9 months in advance. The earlier you book it, the better deals you’ll find such as prices for flights, hotel rooms, etc. ![]() 2.) If you can drive, do it!! Unless you are going to a tropical island outside of the United States, drive to wherever your Spring Break destination is! Yes flying saves time, but driving saves money. Although you have to multiple stops in order to fill the gas tank, it will still be way less than a plane ticket especially if you are carpooling with a group of your friends and you all are able to split the gas price amongst yourselves. ![]() 3.) Save your money, don’t spend it on unnecessary things!! If you are planning on going away for Spring Break, don’t keep going out to dinner or to the bars with your friends every weekend. Those prices start to add up and that’s money that you can be saving to put towards your trip. I know it’s fun to have a social life on the weekends, but instead of going out to dinner make a meal together this way you can still enjoy having the company and are saving money while doing so. Yes that cup of coffee from Dunkin Donuts is a life savior, but putting a K-cup in your Keurig does the same thing. Yes ordering Pizza Hut after a night out seems like the greatest thing in the world, but instead of ordering it find whatever’s in the kitchen and work with that. Once you realize how much money you put towards unnecessary things you then realize how much money you can save for a nice vacation get away. I hope that these get you thinking on what you can do to save some money before you go ahead and book your Spring Break trip! Please let me know if you have any questions! |
